I am from Nebraska, attended university in Colorado. Drafted out of grad school, I went into the army and worked as a field radio teletype operator in South Korea (69-70). After army went back to grad school and got into mountaineering and climbing. Lived in Aspen (73-75). Moved to Australia to teach (76-77). Traveled back to the States in '78 and spent 4 months in Southeast Asia then a month in Nepal. Drove a VW bus from Kathmandu to Amsterdam in '78. Taught in Greeley, Colorado for 8 years. Moved to Singapore to teach at Singapore American School in '87 and was there 27 years. Retired in Steamboat Springs, Colorado (2014 to Present) to substitute teach and drive a taxi/shuttle.
Studied martial arts since 1979. Began training in Arnis de Mano (79-87). In Singapore began training in Aikido and have trained in that art for more than 30 years. Also taught Aikido in Singapore and in Steamboat Springs. Now teach martial arts informally.
